Mickelberry Gardens is a Portland-based dietary supplement company. We manufacture a line of products based around honey, beeswax, bee pollen, propolis, and medicinal herbs. Environmental sustainability, sourcing ingredients from local producers, and being a great place to work are core company values. We pride ourselves in quality and expect excellence from our staff. Administrative Support and Bookkeeping

Hours: 30-40 Hours Per Week, at our facility in Northeast Portland

Rate of Pay: $25-$35 per hour, DOE

Work location: 12450 NE Marx Portland, Oregon 97230

Flexible working days during the weekday, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm.

This is an in-person job. The workspace is spacious, and filled with light and plants!

We’re looking for someone with strong administrative and financial skills to join our team. Excellent communication skills, customer service experience, and Excel savvy are essential for this position. We’re also looking for someone with Accounting, Quickbooks, and inventory management experience.

As a growing small business, the day-to-day workflow in this position is varied. We hope to find a candidate that can help to support other office team members with customer service and invoice processing, take on daily bookkeeping entries, and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable. We would also like this new role to assist with longer term projects on the horizon, including upgrading our inventory system, helping to improve our internal cost accounting, and assisting with monthly financial statements.

This role will work closely with the owner and other office staff, as well as across departments with the shipping and production team. Communication, Teamwork, and collaboration across departments is important for our organization's success.

Job Description and Duties:

Accounting and Bookkeeping: Assisting owner with Accounts Payable and Receivable. Entering checks, bills, and receipts into accounting software.

Payroll Support: Totaling staff hours and gathering other info needed each pay period. Helping to onboard new staff by printing and organizing all documents required.

Provide Excellent Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries via email and telephone, with friendly and helpful rapport. Assist in-person customers with their local pick-up orders.

Generate invoices, packing slips, and other shipping documents to provide to Shipping and Warehouse staff, using Quickbooks software and Excel.

Inventory Management: Assist with the implementation of Advanced Inventory through Quickbooks Enterprise platform. Assist with weekly and monthly inventory management.

Purchasing: Assist with purchasing of supplies.

Additional as-needed projects: Assist owner and team with various projects and goals that come up – these may involve research, building spreadsheets, tracking information, developing company documents, preparing for staff meetings, or improving processes.

Financial Controller

Hours: 40 Hours Per Week, at our facility in Northeast Portland

Work location: 12450 NE Marx Portland, Oregon 97230

Rate of Pay: $75,000 - $85,000 per year + Stock Options

Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm.

 

This is an in-person job. The workspace is spacious, and filled with light and plants!

We’re looking for a budding accounting professional who is interested in what we do and has the skillset and desire to dig deep into improving our growing organization’s financial health. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of accounting operations, financial reporting and GAAP accounting knowledge, budgeting, and financial analysis are all desired skills for this role.

As a growing manufacturing business with several sales channels, we hope to find someone who can assist us to establish clear financial policies and procedures, oversee day-to-day accounting operations (including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations), refine our cost and profitability analyses, further develop our budgeting and forecasting, and oversee the production of financial reports and statements, including month-end and year-end close processes.

This role will work closely with the owner, other office staff, and participate in monthly meetings with our fractional CFO/accounting firm. Teamwork and collaboration across departments is important.

Job Description and Duties:

Overseeing Accounts Payable and Receivable, develop and document company procedures.

Payroll Support: Collaborate with other office staff in totaling staff hours and gathering other info needed each pay period. Completing Payroll Journal Entries.


Inventory Management, Purchasing, and Budget: Assist with the implementation of Advanced Inventory through Quickbooks Enterprise platform. Assist with weekly and monthly inventory management.

Complete monthly bank account reconciliations, and refine policies and procedures around closing our books.

Finalize monthly financial statements and review results with CEO.

Conduct in-depth profitability and margin analysis by key sales channels and products, in collaboration with CEO.

Further develop our sales and cash flow forecasts, in collaboration with CEO.

Participate in advisory board meetings, meetings with our financial advisor and fractional CFO, and board of director meetings as needed.
